EVOLUTION – Each life is Tailor made
For thousands of years the mystery of life’s evolution has been thought about by many Scholars, Inventors, Scientists, Spiritual Leaders and we Humans. We also have the "Veda" meaning whole Truth, whole Knowledge, passed down to us over 5,000 years ago. Listen here to Vedic Masters Maharishi Vyasananda Thom Knoles podcast on The Vedic Worldview.
The Veda tells us that Evolution is an unfolding play and we, the individual, are in the evolutionary process of acting this play out from our own state of Consciousness.
So how can we have more understanding of our own Evolution? We surrender to the play, get involved in the play, be the play. That is what we have to do in this lifetime. There will always be pain and suffering, losses and limitations, that's what makes us human. Once we work through the pain and suffering, we come closer to the truth, realising that we are much more than this body. We begin to peel back the layers, to have awareness that something inside us is waking up.
In every moment the “I am”, ME the individual has a purpose in the play. Our job is to take responsibility for ourselves, to ensure we are living a purposeful life and accept that everything happens for a reason. As humans we have the tendency to try to control, to over think and analyse. It’s human nature to think we have to get somewhere.... but where are we going? The Veda says enjoy the ride, we are already here!!
Long ago I received this quote which helped in the process of surrendering and letting go:
Have the courage to Let go,
of the needing to know.
Of needing Control.
Of holding on.
Let go, let go, let go.
Damn it, let go.
We don’t give up on life but rather dive into it. Be joyful, happy and playful. God, Nature, Universe or whatever you like to call it is the instrument, the organizer and the play. Therefore, we too must be part of the play.
Our Meditation practice is a pathway to knowing the truth of our own evolution and of life’s purpose.
The Collective Consciousness of the World
There is so much stress in the collective consciousness right now. Nature is showing us its power in many ways all over the world. It’s up to us to be awake and active; to do our part in raising awareness through our daily Meditation Practice.
I came across this piece below written by Thom Knoles some time ago that I think is really relavent to share it with you now.
“We can feel the stress increasing in the collective consciousness of our countries and of our world. We read and watch daily the effect of the collective unhappiness of billions of individuals. Perhaps we feel the effects of the collective stress tarnishing our own lives – in our family dynamics, in our own bodies. It manifests in the form of fear or anxiety; a feeling that time is running out. This, in turn, can manifest the twin diseases of selfishness and desperate behaviour.
Vedic Meditators possess a uniquely powerful strategy for reversing this polluting effect: we know and use the power of orderliness and coherence that regular meditation brings. We have seen it work in our own lives; we have seen it work in the lives of our family and friends. We have also seen the positive effect our own meditation has had on those who have no interest in it! We have verified that the unit of collective peace and abundance is individual peace and abundance. What we need is more meditators and the need is urgent.
We stand at the turning point in world history. We could watch as collective stress forces the minds and hands of national politics, driving an agenda of selfishness and desperation. Or, in their own quiet way, meditators could bring about a more ordered and coherent influence in the collective consciousness by awakening more creative intelligence from within ourselves and then increase this by bringing our friends and family to it.”
Invite the people around you who have not learned to Meditate, bring them to an Introductory Talk and let me show them what meditation can do to make their life better in every way.
This month I wanted to share with you Thom Knoles new podcast which is also a very relevant topic for us right now -
CHARM AND CHANGE
Thom Knoles discusses the mechanics of charm, why following charm is the primary motivator of the evolutionary process and how constant interaction and adaptation to change is actually what evolution is all about. The idea that change is an event is a complete illusion. Charm is the only counsellor toward action or non-action.

2019 New Year - Samskaras
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Dear Meditators
Happy New Year to you all, may 2019 bring Joy, Happiness & Abundance in all you do.
The story line for 2018 is over. What will your story be in 2019?
When I look back over 2018, I think of the learning and experiences that changed my life, the experiences that bought me joy, laughter and happiness. I do a mental checklist of things I am still working on. I let go of the past with gratitude and look forward to new year with excitement.
When I first learnt to meditate, I learnt about the word Samskaras which means deep impressions, conditioning from this life and from past lives, samskaras are the residue or imprints from my actions (karma).
These samskaras become imbedded in our minds and become part of our personality that we act on habitually. There are also good samskaras that we act upon and stay with us – they bring happiness, joy and laughter. We also draw on learning experience that have changed the course of life.
Can these imprints be reversed? Yes, they can.
After I learned to meditate, I became more aware of my actions and my samskaras that caused suffering, like negative thinking, my habits, actions and behaviours. I learned to watch them and became familiar with the triggers that set these samskaras off. It took time, but then some of these habits and behaviours started to drop away. Negative thinking and irritations became less and my mind became calmer and free to think situation through more positively. I used the stay and play thinking rather than fight or flee options.
What I learned is that for probably many life times I have repeated the same way of thinking and only when I consciously change these thought patterns is when they began to melt away. I may still have these thought patterns but they don’t take hold because I remember the actions (Karma) that are the consequences of the old patterns.
The English word “Scar” comes from Samskaras.
Two pieces below from my Newsletter in March 2018, they are worth repeating for this New Year’s message.
Also 20 great quotes from Wayne Dyer to live by.
Deepak Chopra gives a great explanation about Samskara’s.
When they tried to understand how the mind traps itself, the ancient Indian sages devised the key concept of samskara (from two Sanskrit word roots that mean "to flow together"). A samskara is a groove in the mind that makes thoughts flow in the same direction. Buddhist psychology makes sophisticated use of the concept by speaking of samskaras as imprints in the mind that have a life of their own. Your personal samskaras, built up from memories of the past, force you to react in the same limited way over and over, robbing you of free choice (i.e., choosing as if for the first time). From The Book of Secrets.
JeffKober - Thought for the day www.jeffkobermeditation.com -writes
Negative thoughts, negative behaviours, negative self-talk--all are the product of the stresses that we have stored throughout the course of our lifetime. The samskaras. They are grooves of feelings, thinking and choices, ruts that can be difficult to climb out of. Meditation daily melts away these stresses and the ruts become progressively less deep until finally, they are no longer there at all. But even then, the old habits of thought can still be there. We must, in fact, teach ourselves new habits. Embrace new thoughts. Thoughts of why it's okay to let go of the old, let go of blame of self and others, and why it's okay to love-- ourselves and others.
"The Seeker becomes the Discovery." Mooji
“The seeker becomes the discovery”
https://mooji.tv/freemedia/the-seeker-becomes-the-discovery/
In this podcast, Mooji is asked the question - “who perceives the perceiver”? His response is very thought provoking. Enjoy the wisdom!
All Spiritual Discoverers start out as Seekers-the search for knowledge and for the truth of one's own existance. Who am I, what is my purpose, where do I fit into this world?
The Spiritual seeker tries to find answers from outside of themselves. The Discoverer sees what it sees -finds the answers through Self-Discovery and Self-Realisation to find the answers within. “The Seeker becomes the discoverer”.
As Vedic Meditators we discover that "I AM" the Perceiver of all truth and knowledge and of Love and Happiness. Every time we sit to meditate and touch the most subtle areas of thoughts within - we come to the creative intelligence, the source of all creation that lies deep inside- our Being. It is truly the most powerful tool you will ever have in your life. "The Seeker becomes the Discoverer."
Live and Love everything in life, Live in the present moment because that is all there ever is.
Some thoughts and quotes for the new year.
Live every moment - As we let go of 2018 to clear space within ourselves we embrace 2019 welcoming in new opportunities. Breathe deeply the gift of being alive and present in every waking moment.
Love - "Love opens all doors no matter how closed they may be, no matter how rusty from lack of use. Your work is to bring unity and harmony, to open all doors which have been closed for a long time. Have patience and tolerance. Open your heart all the time." Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
The secret of attraction is to love yourself. Attractive people judge neither themselves nor others. They are open to gestures of love. They think about love, and express love in every action. They know that love is not a mere sentiment, but the ultimate truth at the heart of the universe. ~Deepak Chopra
Laugh – Take time out to laugh each day, laughter is food for the soul. It’s infectious and uplifting to be around.
Happiness –Be happy, healthy and let all that love flow through your heart." "The world is as you are." Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Wishing you all a safe and very Happy Christmas, many blessings for the New Year.
Awakening Consciousness
Awakening Consciousness.
Wikipedia defines consciousness as awareness, space – a nothingness, recognition, perception and realisation, being aware and conscious in the present moment.
Consciousness is not separate from our human body it is our body. Consciousness knows no birth or death, it is always there on a continuous basis. We can think of Consciousness as an entity-as God, Nature, Universe, Spirit, Soul or Energy.
How do we awaken consciousness? -by being present and aware of our thoughts, emotions and feelings. When we are present it is impossible to live in the past or to live in the future, we can only live in the now, in the present.
What we become aware of is that everything is conceived, structured and perceived in our consciousness. What we put our attention on grows and we must be mindful of what we attract into our lives.
Cultivating Conscious Awareness:
living in the present moment makes us aware of what is percieved in our consciousness.
Meditating 20 minutes twice daily creates inner and outer awareness.
Self awareness (come back to the self before blaming everything/everybody else around you).
raise my awareness of others by putting myself in their shoes – “What’s it like to be you?”
surrendering preferences in my relationships gracefully and without resentment.
no expectations, no judgment, no sarcasm, no negativity.
give freely and without keeping score.
be of service in the community (what you give to others you receive back in abundance).
SYNCHRONICITY
Synchronicity means- the simultaneous occurrence of events which appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection.
We call them coincidences or good and bad luck, Murphy’s Law, simultaneity or incidences occurring at the same time. There is intentionality and simultaneity coming together at a meeting point to create synchronicity.
Synchronicities are not of this world we cannot make them happen, they come to us from our Spirit, Source, Soul, Guides, Nature, God, Universe or whatever you like to call it.
(Quote fromThom Knoles) “We design our own experiences whether consciously or unconsciously. We suffer exactly in proportion to how unconscious we are. When we’re awake, relaxed and conscious we are more receptive and more synchronicity occurs.” Life flows easily and naturally. When we are living unconsciously we may be blaming others for our unhappy state or suffering and living with doubt, fear and negativity.
The Veda’s tell us that there is only one indivisable thing occurring at any time and that is Oneness. As humans we experience Oneness through our senses and the vibrational flow of consciousness brought to us through Prana (breath or life force).
So, how do we become more aware and conscious of these Syncronicities occurring in our life?
*We meditate 20 minutes twice per day.
*We work towards expanding our consciousness by being present and aware.
*We become aware of our thoughts, emotions and feelings.
*We work towards becoming fearless by taking risks and jumping into the unknown.
*We follow charm and become aware of our emotions and feelings on a deep level.

My True Nature June 2018
My True Nature
Dear Meditators,
This time of year all the leaves drop from the Liquidambar trees and they stand tall and bear. I think about the number of times they have gone through their cycle and how open to the elements of Nature they are during Winter. Then Spring comes and they are full of life and new growth again. Each year they seem to have taken on different shapes and grown in new directions but still their trunks and their foundations remain the same.
I likened this story of change and new cycles to my own life. The “I”, my individuality has evolves through many cycles. My body has changed mentally and physically many times over. Some of the most profound experiences I have had in life have created new and unexpected directions and pathways, but spiritually at the very core of me, there is something that has never changed - my Being, my stillness, that part of me has never changed and it never will.
Today my true nature comes from learning to be more present. Not anxiously looking toward the future or thinking about the past. When I come to the present I'm more aware of my true essence and connectedness. I become aware of my quiet place inside to feel centrered and grounded in my foundations. From that point my egoic mind becomes secondary, still hearing the chatter but more alined with the inner voice. My thoughts become clearer, life flows smoothly I am more aware of what I need to be doing, or not doing. I have learned to see challenges as opportunities and put all I have learn into practise.
I don’t wait for the truth to come to me from outside of myself, I look for the truth through my meditation and through awareness in the present moment. When I come to the present moment my senses are raised, I am less reactive and more adaptive to any situation. Happiness and bliss is more available in the present moment.
Today I will practice going beyond my ego thoughts to experience the source all of my thoughts. Today I will enhance my knowledge and understanding of who I am and where I need to be at any given moment.

Listen with your Heart
Listen with your heart
When you listen attentively to the silent voice in your heart and follow the directions she offers .... the great mystery starts to reveal herself to you. There is an awareness of Love that naturally starts to arise in you. It is this Love that you have been seeking. Listen…… ANAND MEHROTRA, SATTVA YOGA.
By listening to the whispers of our inner voice we find ourselves moving in the direction of our purpose and the meaning of life. This is the "call to action." Which can feel like excitement, ambition, newness, challenges, the love we feel in the heart, happiness and bliss. Nature give us the signs through incidences and sycronicities. New ideas are cognised and it is through this recognition that we feel charm. Everything feels right and we trust. We can also experience the opposite to charm - aversion.
The inner voice also tells us when something is wrong. If we ignore the signs and feelings of averions and proceed even when it feels wrong then the situation will not work out. Life becomes rough. If we continue to ignore the signs and messages the problems will get bigger. If we still continue down this path the problems will become a disaster and can end in a big mess. So listen with your Heart and to your inner voice. Get to know the feelings of charm and aversion. Nature will lead you in the right direction so trust it.
Our Meditation is one of the most effective ways of coming to silence. The mind transcends to the subtlest realms of silence coming to the place of stillness where everything resides within us. We experience the silence during meditation and then we take that consciousness, the quietness, into our lives.
How do we find quietness outside of meditation?
Become aware of Nature or take a walk in Nature, be alone with your thoughts, sit by the ocean, practise Yoga and Pranayama (breath in the energy of life - Prana), sit quietly after meditation. Take time out of your busy day to be quiet and listen. See what Nature has to offer you today, right now.
Today I will take time to be quiet and listen to my inner voice and watch for the signs that are constantly being shown to me. I will appreciate that my life is precious and know that everything is well and wisely set in place, all I need to do is listen.
I love the words to the song “Listen with Heart” by Casey Donovan.
When you can’t find your way through the night
When you’ve lost touch and nothings feeling right
You can’t find that path that leads you on
And you don’t know which road to choose
That’s when you’ve go to
Listen with your heart
Listen to you soul
Inside you’ll find the answer
The place you need to go
